Asheboro, NC -- Tina Byrd is ready to start the next chapter of her life, after losing both legs.
"I feel like at the age of 35, I had my legs and I got to dance, swim, walk and run," said Tina Byrd, bride.
Byrd lost both her legs, while trying help others victims involved in a church bus crash in 2008.
"Oh goodness, at 35 years old, I lost my legs, my life is over," said Tina Byrd-Sasser.
But Byrd's life wasn't over, it would just be getting started. In February 2013, her boyfriend and true love ask her to marry him, and she said yes.
"You can go in the director of negative or you can go in the direction of positive," said Byrd.
She told WFMY News 2's Tony Smith, her positive attitude brought her to one end of the aisle to meet her new husband, Kenny Sasser. So, they tied the knot on Saturday, August 3rd, 2013 at 6 PM.
"We've had our ups and downs, everything is not all perfect, everyone knows that but it is perfect enough for me."
Congratulations to the Sassers, who are cruising to the Bahamas for their honeymoon.
