GRAHAM, NC -- A man in Graham was arrested after deputies said he held a female in his home against her will for several hours and assaulted her multiple times.
Officers were called to a home in the 1200 block of Small Avenue shortly after 10 a.m. Sunday for a domestic dispute call.
Investigators said the woman had several injuries when they found her; Clayton Samuel Paul was still in the home with a shotgun.
The woman told deputies that Paul threatened her and fired the shotgun close to her. Responding officers said they found damage to a wall from an apparent shotgun blast.
A small amount of marijuana was also found in Paul's home.
Deputies said there was an active 50B Domestic Violence Protective Order against Paul, forbidding him to have any contact with the woman.
The woman was taken to Alamance Regional Medical Center for treatment, according to the sheriff's office.
Paul was charged with Second-Degree Kidnapping, Assault by Strangulation, Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury, Assault on a Female, Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Possession of Marijuana up to one-half ounce, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Communicating Threats and Violation of a DV Protective order.
