Greensboro, NC -- Police are investigating an accident on US-29 North that left one person dead, one in critical condition and another seriously injured Sunday afternoon.
Investigators say 20-year-old Willie B. Cornwell III, of Greensboro, was driving a 1994 Infinity Q45 north on the highway when he lost control of the car. The car then ran off the right side of the road and slammed into two trees.
One of Cornwell's passengers, Jasmine Rose Harris, 18, also of Greensboro, died at the scene of the accident.
Another passenger, 17-year-old Gabriel Edwards, of Greensboro, is at Moses Cone Hospital in critical condition.
Cornwell was also taken to the hospital with serious injuries, police say.
The accident shut down US-29 North near Business 40 and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive for more than two hours Sunday.
Police are still collecting evidence in the case. The Greensboro Police Department's Crash Reconstruction Unit is handling the investigation.
