MAUMERE, Indonesia - Officials are searching for the bodies of two children following the eruption of a volcano on a small island in eastern Indonesia.
At least six people were killed when hot lava flowed into their village as they slept.
The head of the local disaster agency says he's pessimistic about recovering the bodies since they were buried under hot volcanic material. He says small explosions are still being heard coming from the volcano's peak, which continues to send smoke up to 600 yards into the sky.
Indonesia's disaster agency says nearly 3,000 people had been evacuated from the area on Palue island, but some residents had refused to leave. The volcano has been rumbling since last October.
The local disaster chief says all villagers have been evacuated out of the danger zone now.
