GREENSBORO, N.C. -- A stationary front will remain south of the Piedmont through the weekend.
High pressure will move off the East Coast. This will allow moisture to override the stationary front and bring a chilly rain to the Piedmont for this afternoon and the weekend.
We will see clouds increase today with a 40 percent chance of showers this afternoon. Today's high temperatures will be near 72. Periods of rain tonight with a low of 62. As rain develops later today and tonight, temperatures will really cool off. This wedge of cool surface air will hold over the Piedmont through the weekend. Highs on Saturday will only be near 68 and around 70 on Sunday. This means highs will be nearly 20 degrees below our normal of 87 for this time of year.
Temperatures will begin to recover by Monday and Tuesday with highs near 78 Monday and the mid-80s Tuesday. There will be a 40 percent chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms Monday and a 30 percent chance Tuesday through Thursday.
