High Point, N.C. -- High Point City Councilman Foster Douglas owes the city more than $32,000.
The debt stems from a lawsuit he and his brother filed against the city in 2003. They lost their legal fight. A judge ordered them to pay the city's legal fees.
But, Douglas still hasn't paid up. Recently, Douglas requested to go on a $2,500 city-paid trip to the National League of Cities Conference in Seattle. Emails obtained by WFMY News 2 from High Point Council Members show Douglas' peers are upset about that request.
On Monday, Douglas is expected to address the council and the public about his debt. Members of the public are also invited to speak at the council meeting. It's at High Point City Hall at 4:45 p.m.
