Deputies Investigating Unattended Children In Roadway, Find Meth Lab Inside A House

Rowan County, NC-- Deputies in Rowan County say a call about unattended children in the street and yard, also lead to a meth lab the basement of a house. 

The Rowan County Sheriff's Office and Granite-Quarry Faith Police Department responded a complaint about unattended young children in the roadway and yard. When officers got on the scene they saw a man  coming out of the basement of the house. The man identified as Joshua Eran Tarlton, gave consent for deputies to search the home. During the search, they discovered an active "one pot" methamphetamine laboratory in the basement.

Tarlton was placed under arrest and investigators secured the scene for further investigation. Additional law enforcement, including the SBI have been contacted to assist.

The Rowan County Department of Social Services were called to handle the welfare and care of the children.

Tarlton is facing one count of Manufacturing Methamphetamine, two counts of Trafficking Methamphetamine and two counts of Possession of Precursor Materials. 

According to Detectives, Joshua Tarlton has an extensive criminal history with convictions for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Felony Larceny, Assault on a Female, Possession of Marijuana, and numerous driving violations.
