Greensboro, NC -- Part of the reason we feel rushed during the day, is because we aren't being realistic with our schedule and the time it takes to get things done.

Janice Russell from Minding Your Matters Organizing says each one of us needs to be aware of what can get done in a day. Instead of just listing it, she uses shoe boxes to illustrate each hour of the day.

-take out 8 for work hours
-take out 8 for sleep hours
-take one 1 for drive time hour
-take out 2 for kids soccer practice
-take out 2 for fixing and eating dinner, etc.
Usually end up with more things on the list than hours in a day

So how decide what really want to do: ask yourself each day, what is the one thing I can get done that would make me say this was a successful day?

WEB EXTRA: Janice used a one day schedule to show how to make it more productive. Her main focus: be aware of best times of day for you get stuff done. Figure out when your energy level is the highest-best time of day for hard projects.
