Greensboro--High pressure off the East Coast will provide a warm and moist southwesterly wind over the area through Monday night. A cold front will approach and move across the area Tuesday morning. Cooler and drier and will filter into the area for Wednesday through Friday.
The warm and tropical summer pattern over the area will lead to a 40% chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. Although we will see sun and clouds, enough sunshine will drive high temperatures to near 87. Tonight, scattered showers and thunderstorms will quickly dissipate after sunset. the sky will likely remain mostly cloudy with a low of 71.
The approach of the cold front on Labor Day afternoon will again produce a 40% chance of scattered mainly afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms on Monday. the high temperature on Monday will be near 87. With the front in the neighborhood, showers may linger well into the overnight period Monday and even into early Tuesday morning.
Behind the cold front, cooler and drier air will move into the Piedmont for Wednesday through Friday. High temperatures will be in the low 80's with overnight lows near 60.
