ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. -- Deputies with the Rowan County Sheriff's Office arrested one of two suspects for a string of robberies.
Carlton Calvin Wilson was arrested at his probation officer's office in Charlotte on Wednesday.
Investigators believe Jeremy Lamont Edwards committed the robberies with Wilson. He is not in custody, but he is now on the Rowan Sheriff's Most Wanted list.
Deputies investigated two robberies at the end of August at stores on Highway 52 and Highway 152. They said the suspects broke into the businesses with a sledgehammer. Local police departments told the sheriff's office similar break-ins were reported in Rockwell and Salisbury. Salisbury police officers recovered a sledgehammer during one of their investigations, according to the sheriff's office.
Wilson faces charges of two counts of Breaking, Entering and Larceny and one count of Safecracking. He faces additional charges from the Salisbury Police Department.
Deputies notified other area law enforcement agencies about Edwards. He faces the same charges as Wilson. Edwards is wanted in Mecklenburg County, too.
