GREENSBORO, N.C. -- A worker at N.C. A&T State University received an electric shock while working on a roof-top air conditioning unit, causing him to fall about 10 feet onto the roof.

The incident happened on the Ellis Corbett Building around 10:30 a.m., according to a spokesperson at A&T.

Several units responded to the accident including EMS, and stations five and seven with the Greensboro Fire Department.

Battalion Chief Pat Henley said the man sustained injuries from the fall and the electric shock. He mentioned the worker's shoulder was injured. Henley told WFMY News 2 the worker was "conscious and alert" while he was treated for injuries on the roof of the building. EMS took him to the hospital.

Henley said he was unsure what caused the accident.

The A&T spokesperson said the man is a contract worker and was working with an NC A&T technician.
