CHARLOTTE, NC - Supporters have gathered to remember a Charlotte woman killed in a knife attack 23 years ago.
Those remembering Kim Thomas on Saturday included her son, Elliot, who was left unharmed in his crib when his mother's throat was cut in July 1990.
Elliot says he doesn't remember his mother, but he is glad other people do. Elliot's father was charged with killing his mother, but prosecutors dropped the case.
No one else has been charged so far. A man who lived nearby is in prison for voluntary manslaughter in an unrelated case. Police say they have exhausted all the scientific evidence in Kim Thomas' killing and need someone to come forward to help solve the case.
The ceremony included planting a sunset maple in Kim Thomas' honor at Freedom Park.
