ELON, N.C. -- A Graham man is facing murder charges for an accident that killed a 63-year-old woman in Elon.
Police said blood samples returned from the State Bureau of Investigations that showed William Lee Scott had alcohol in his system when he collided with Veocia Collins Warren towards the end of June.
The accident happened at the intersection of University Drive and Manning Avenue. Police said Scott's speed was also a factor in their investigation.
Scott was arrested Monday. Police charged him with Second Degree Murder, Felony Death by Motor Vehicle and Misdemeanor Death By Motor Vehicle. Officers took him to the Alamance County Detention Center where he is being held under a $225,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in court September 16.
