Rowan County -- As WBTV anchor-reporter, David Whisenant drove his news vehicle Tuesday morning, he heard something that sounded like an animal in his car.

Whisenant made an unscheduled stop at Jerry's Shell gas station, where employee Joe Bost found a kitten wedged on top of the gas tank. David thinks she must have crawled up in the car while it was parked.

After Bost removed the animal, "News Cat" was put in a headlight box and taken to the vet.  She's now at the Rowan Animal Shelter and is available for adoption.
