London, UK  -  The British company that invented the lava lamp that lit up the swinging sixties is celebrating a groovy golden anniversary this month.

Lava lamps are a cultural icon of the 60s and 70s anything goes era - and perhaps some dance moves best left in the past. The mesmerizing mix of warm wax and water is celebrating 50 years of getting people to stop....and stare...and stare.

The late British inventor Edward Craven Walker was in a pub, when he came up with the bright idea - and the lava formula that remains a secret today.

When the Dr. Who series featured the lava lamps, their popularity erupted.
