CORNELIUS, N.C. -- The body of a man who fell off a charter boat in Lake Norman earlier this month has been recovered.
Officials say the body of 33-year-old Matthew Bell of Charlotte was found by a boater and recovered by Cornelius firefighters on Saturday afternoon.
The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission said Bell was one of 103 passengers and three crew members on a charter boat who fell into the water Sept. 1.Commission Sgt. Barry Rowell says Bell worked for the Ragin' Mistress boat he was on, but was not working when he fell in the water.
Rowell said the case is still under investigation. He says an autopsy will be performed.Officials had searched the water for days before suspended the search without success Sept. 9.
