FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- A woman with ties to Fayetteville was one of 12 victims killed in the Navy Yard shooting Monday morning in Washington, D.C., according to CBS-affiliate, WRAL.
The Washington Post identified Mary DeLorenzo Knight as an information technology specialist and a teacher at Northern Virginia Community College. One of Knight's family friends confirmed to WRAL she had ties to Fayetteville.
Washington Metropolitan Police and the FBI say at least one shooter entered the Naval Sea Systems Command headquarters on Monday, killing 12 people and wounding several others. The shooter, identified as Aaron Alexis, was killed by police.
Authorities have not yet established a motive and are investigating Alexis' activity leading up to the shooting.
