HIGH POINT, N.C. -- The organization running the North Carolina Shakespeare Festival is using a crowd-funding website in an attempt to raise $100,000 by October 31.
NCShakes announced at the beginning of August it was suspending its operations immediately. The organization said they were facing "financial challenges in a difficult fundraising climate."
The online-fundraising effort started September 10 and has raised $1,210.
NCShakes was founded in 1977. Their mission is to "entertain, educate and enrich North Carolina students and citizens with quality professional productions of the world's great plays and with in-school and life-long learning opportunities."
