WINSTON-SALEM --The Children's Home announced Wednesday that they will be cutting three programs and laying off seventy-nine staff members.
In a news release, the Children's Home said the Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility and Group Home will be phased out. This goes into effect on December 7. The Peek-A-Moo Child Development Center will also close on December 31.
The Home said the decision to re-align their services comes from a variety of factors. They cited that the state's shift in focus to more community based services and less residential programs and the changing role of mental health services as some of the factors.
