RALEIGH, N.C. -- An Air Force veteran from Greensboro won $1 million playing the lottery just five days after he was honorably discharged.
A statement from the N.C. Education Lottery released Wednesday says Staff Sgt. La'Saun McNair won the prize playing a $120 million scratch-off ticket. McNair will take home $408,006 after taxes are deducted.
"I'm going to buy a new house and invest the rest," McNair said in a statement. "I may take a vacation, as well. But I'm going to stay humble. I feel great. I feel blessed."
McNair worked in IT for the Air Force for 14 years, according to lottery officials.
