Southbound I85 Bypass Reopened After Crash

Police reopened the Southbound lanes of  I-85 Bypass between Youngs Mills Road and the I-40 split just before 9:30 Saturday night.

There was a two vehicle accident that caused the closure.

Police say the vehicles were traveling south bound on I-85; the first was a 2002 Toyota Corolla operated by Mr. John Ralston Brown, W/M/74 of Greensboro. The second vehicle was a 2010 Chevrolet Aveo operated by Mr. Christopher Joseph Byrd, W/M/24 of High Point.

As a result of the collision Mr. Brown was ejected from his vehicle sustaining serious injuries and was transported to Moses Cone Hospital for treatment. Mr. Byrd was uninjured and was able to continue to his destination.

The collision is currently being investigated by the Greensboro Police Department Crash Reconstruction Unit.
