MORAVIAN FALLS, N.C. -- Wilkes County fire dispatchers confirmed to WFMY News 2 that a man was killed in an accident involving a horse-drawn buggy.
The accident happened at 5:30 p.m. on Moravian Falls Road between Wilkes Central High School and Cub Creek Church Road. Dispatchers said the driver of the buggy, 46 year-old Bryan Lynn Selby of Moravian Falls died. His two daughters who were with him were treated at a local hospital for their injuries.
Selby's daughters injuries were described by the Highway Patrol as "not serious." They were taken to Wilkes Regional by a private vehicle and released, according to Trooper Holbrook.
The Highway Patrol said the driver who hit the buggy from behind was blinded by the headlights of another car and was not able to see the buggy because its' lights were not on.
Also, Troopers said the horse-drawn buggy was painted black.
The crash is still under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.
