HIGH POINT, N.C. -- Police say a 14-year-old girl has been charged with first degree murder in the stabbing death of a sibling early Sunday morning.
Officers say they were called to a home on Brentwood Street and found 16-year-old Ti'kere Martin suffering from a stab wound.
He was transported to High Point Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Police have identified the suspect as the victim's 14-year-old sister. She is charged with First Degree Murder within the juvenile court system. However, the DA is considering whether or not she should be tried as an adult.
If tried as an adult, the girl could receive a life sentence in prison. In North Carolina, suspects have to be at least 16 to automatically considered as an adult.
Investigators say it appears the incident stemmed from an argument between the siblings.
The case is still under investigation.
