GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Greensboro City Council will meet Tuesday afternoon.

Here's what you need to know:

Road vote

After five years, the debate about renaming a stretch of High Point Road and Lee Street will come to an end. Some council members want to change the name to Gate City Boulevard. Others, including some small business owners, are adamantly against the name change.

Opponents argue the costs are too great for the state, city and business located along the road.

A motion to honor

Councilwoman Dianne Bellamy-Small requested that council prepares a resolution to honor Harvey R. Alexander, a member of the Tuskegee Airmen who died in August in Greensboro. In addition to his military service, Alexander taught at several North Carolina Universities.

Farewell

This will be the last meeting for some council members. Mayor Robbie Perkins is out, Councilwoman Nancy Vaughan is in. In the last few years, Greensboro mayors have been unable to hold their seat. Vaughan will be Greensboro's fourth mayor since 2007.

Despite a hard-fought battle and a recount, Councilwoman Dianne Bellamy-Small will be replaced by Sharon Hightower in District 1.
