TRIAD -- Duke Energy is responding hundreds of power outages in several counties. The worst as of 11:30pm Sunday was in Stokes County where 563 customers were without power.
On Sunday afternoon, Guilford County had more than 1,300 power outages. But that number has drastically decreased.
Davis Montgomery, a spokesperson for Duke Energy, said the Guilford County outages appeared to be associated with a substation west of I-40 near Sandy Ridge Road. Montgomery said some equipment on one of their utility poles failed, causing the outage, but they're uncertain what caused the failure.
Montgomery said if any customer has trees leaning on power lines, call Duke Electric and alert them. Do not try to take care of the problem yourself.
Other counties experiencing outages as of this report include Guilford, Forsyth, Montgomery and Jackson.
