MT. AIRY, N.C. - Mt. Airy Police said a man has been charged for Filing a False Police Report after he fabricated and staged an armed robbery on Friday, December 6.
Officers said they responded to Chase and Charli's Restaurant on South Main Street after Howard Leonard Summers Jr. said an unidentified man had robbed him in the parking lot. Summers told officers the man had stolen $1,800, his prescription medicine and 82 Dilaudid pills.
During their investigation, officers said they found out Summers Jr. had made up the incident and admitted that a robbery did not happen. Also, On the same day of the alleged incident, police said an Elementary near the restaurant was put on lockdown.
Summers Jr. was arrested at his home in Holly Springs and charged for Filing a False Police Report.
