HIGH POINT, N.C. -- High Point City Council discussed the future of the historic Kilby Hotel at their meeting Monday night.
During a presentation, the planning committee said they plan to reopen Washington Street, which is located in front of the hotel on Tuesday.
Members expressed their concern Monday night for the sidewalks surrounding the hotel and safety of pedestrians due to cracking sounds reported from the hotel in October.
In it's heyday, the Kilby Hotel became popular by traveling musicians and was a focal point for the African American community in High Point.
High Point City Council plans to discuss plans to demolish the historic hotel at the meeting on January 21st.
