GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Greensboro police say two people robbed a man who thought he was going to help someone.

Officers said the man was walking home Monday night, near Athena and Isler courts, when he heard another man call for help.

Officer Campbell told WFMY News 2's Liz Crawford that a man was calling out that his child was in trouble. The victim walked over to help.

Police say that's when an armed man came out from behind a bush and robbed him. Both the man with the gun and the man who called for help ran away.

"I do want people to give assistance when assistance is needed but you need to give a little second thought to say could they possibly be trying to trick me?" said Officer Campbell.

The man who stopped to help was not injured.

Police are still investigating this incident. Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at (336) 373-1000.
