North Carolina could be out $15,000 due to the government shutdown.

North Carolina paid $15,000 to keep part of the Smoky Mountains National Park open during the shutdown.

It's been two months and officials don't expect to see that money again.

North Carolina and Tennessee pulled together to open the park on October 16.

The shutdown ended the next day.
