BURNSVILLE, N.C. -- Yancey County deputies say a woman has been charged with murder after she shot her ex-husband and tried to claim he killed himself.
Investigators said 41-year-old Robyn Morrow called 911 on Wednesday night and said her husband shot himself.
Authorities say 44-year-old William Morrow Jr. was found still breathing on the bedroom floor of the Burnsville home and died several hours later at the hospital.
Investigators say the evidence at the scene didn't match a suicide, and Robyn Morrow later told detectives she shot her ex-husband as they questioned her.
Authorities say the couple had a history of domestic violence, but Robyn Morrow said she didn't shoot her husband in self-defense.
Robyn Morrow has been charged with first-degree murder. It wasn't known if she had a lawyer.
