GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Thanks to an anonymous donor, the BackPack Beginnings program will receive double the money from donations for the rest of the year.
According to a news release from the agency, the anonymous donor has agreed to match all year-end campaign donations given to BackPack Beginnings through the United Way of Greater Greensboro (UWGG). The donor told United Way they were inspired by the program's purpose, which serves Guilford County children in need.
The generous donor will match donations through Dec. 31, 2013, dollar for dollar up to $20,000!
"Whether United Way receives $5, $1,000 or $20,000, every dollar counts when it comes helping children," Parker White, founder of BackPack Beginnings, said in a statement. "We hope this matching campaign inspires individuals, the community and corporate donors to double the value of their gift to BackPack Beginnings between now and the end of the year."
If you're still looking to give a gift that will benefit children in 2014, you can make a tax deductible donation to BackPack Beginnings. And if you make it before the end of the year - thanks to an anonymous donor - your contribution will have double the impact.
All donations should be made to the United Way of Greater Greensboro by check, online or in person. To give online, visit UWGG's website. If donating online, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or to BackPack Beginnings noting the donation amount and that it should be earmarked for BackPack Beginnings.
Note: Checks and donations should be marked "BackPack Beginnings Match" in order to be eligible for the matching campaign. The matching donation deadline is 5 p.m. on Dec. 31.
