VATICAN CITY, ROME (CBS NEWS) - US Secretary of State John Kerry said Tuesday that his meeting with the Secretary of State of the Holy See was productive.
The two focused on building peace in the Middle East.
Kerry met with Archbishop Pietro Parolin and said the two had much in common.
He said the President was looking forward to his trip to the Vatican later in the year.
Kerry stopped in Italy for a few hours on his way to Kuwait for a conference later this week.
The conference is about humanitarian donors to Syria war victims. On Monday, Francis called for "renewed political will to end the conflict" in Syria.
