GREENSBORO, N.C. -- According to North Carolina Education Lottery officials, a Mega Millions ticket purchased Tuesday night matched all five numbers for the white balls drawn, which were 4-23-26-62-69. It was bought at Spartan BP on South Aycock Street.
On Thursday, customers at the gas station were wondering who it might be.
"Blows my mind because I come down here quite a bit," said one customer. "I buy lottery tickets here, it's a good store."
"I hope they come forth," added another customer. "They've got to be very lucky, this is very great. I wish this would happen to me."
Whoever purchased the ticket has 180 days from the date of the drawing to
collect the prize money at the lottery headquarters in Raleigh.
Customers shared what they would do with the money if they won. "I'd invest it, I'm a big business guy, I'd want to invest that," said one customer.
"I would first go buy me a new car and then head down to the coast," added another.
This is the
first $1 million win in North Carolina since the new Mega Millions game
launched in October. Changes to the game included a new number matrix, bigger
starting jackpots and bigger prizes for matching all five white balls.
November, Everette Sloop from Rowan County became the first player in the
country to win $3 million playing the new game.
