GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Learning to swim is a life-saving lesson everyone should learn.
And on Tuesday night, nearly 1,200 Guilford County second graders are ready for the water.
They all graduated from the "Learn to Swim" Program at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
"The statistics are alarming - the number of children who don't know how to swim," said Director of Greensboro Aquatic Center Susan Braman. "And we're delighted that we can provide the means during the school day, at no charge to the school, the parent, the child...to come over here and learn those life-saving skills."
Since the Learn to Swim program started, more than 3,600 kids have learned to swim.
