UNION COUNTY, N.C. -- Verizon and the Steve Smith Family Foundation teamed up to "tech the halls" of a local domestic violence shelter in Union County Saturday.
The shelter got 11 new devices including smartphones, security systems and new lights, all in order to help keep everyone in there safe.
The shelter was also gifted a Google Home to let them play Christmas music for everyone to hear.
Steve Smith's foundation will hold a "Strike Out Domestic Violence" bowling event February 17 to raise money for domestic violence awareness and the Smith Family Wellness Center on Central Avenue.
