Vigil Held Thursday In Response To Las Vegas Tragedy

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Minister’s Conference of Winston-Salem & Vicinity respond to the tragedy in Las Vegas and will hold a prayer vigil at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Winston-Salem on Thursday, October 5, 2017 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Emmanuel Baptist Church is located on 1075 Shalimar Dr in Winston-Salem. Reverend Doctor John Mendez will be the host pastor.

The hour-long vigil is meant to “speak to the victims and their families with acts of sympathy.”

A bell will ring 59 times to commemorate the lives of each of the victims.

The vigil is also meant to issue a clarion call “to everyone weary with the habitual reoccurrence of gun massacres, to join the efforts to hold our elected officials accountable to pass gun law reform.”
