Circle K Customers Stop Armed Robbery In Winston-Salem: Police

WINSTON-SALEM, NC--A man's attempt to rob a store in Winston-Salem ended when customers decided to intervene and help the clerk

Jermaine Stanford went to the Circle K on University Pkwy in Winston-Salem with a gun and according to police his plan was to rob the store. Stanford demanded money from the store clerk, but she fought back.

Shannon Wood, the clerk was fighting Stanford when customers in the store jumped into action. They were able to restrain him and call the police.

Another person with Stanford left before police got to the store.

Stanford is facing multiple charges including Kidnapping and Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury. 

The clerk was not injured during the scuffle, but Jose Martinez, a customer who helped her had minor injuries, police confirm.
