Driver Reported False Carjacking After Shooting Himself In Leg: Police

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Police say a man falsely reported an attempted carjacking in Greensboro on Thursday morning.

Police originally reported there was an attempted carjacking around 10 a.m. at Meadowood Street and W. Market Street. After further investigation, police found out the driver falsely reported the carjacking after he shot himself in the leg. Police say the driver was taken to the hospital for treatment. 

Police say this was not a suicide attempt. Susan Danielsen with Greensboro Police Department says there is no word if the driver will face charges.
