Ex. Head Track Coach Charged With Soliciting Minor

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – A former R.J. Reynolds track coach is accused of soliciting a minor for sex.

Thomas McEachin was jail following accusations that he sent sexually explicit photos to a 15-year-old student.

McEachin Jr., 23, turned himself into police Thursday. Police said the 15-year-old was the only victim.

The incident was reported to police and the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School District on Jan. 18. Winston-Salem police spent 4-months investigating McEachin. The school district fired McEachin a few days later on Jan. 22.

The school district says they notified families of the athletes McEachin coached when the investigation began. They notified all Reynolds' students' families Friday, when they said they learned about his arrest.

McEachin is charged with Solicitation of a Child by Computer to Commit an Unlawful Sex Act. He was released on a $20,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court May 15.

Police are still investigating this incident. Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at (336) 727-2800.
