Four Arrested For Felony Cock Fighting in NC: Rowan County Sheriff

ROWAN COUNTY, NC - Four men were arrested after deputies found evidence of chicken fighting at a Rockwell home. 

According to the Rowan County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the 600 block of Geneva Drive in Rockwell on a chicken fighting call. 

When they got to the scene, deputies said they saw 15-20 men run into the woods. In the back of the home they found chickens that were tied to the back of cars, a fenced off area that was covered with a tarp for a roof, blood and feathers. 

Deputies also said they found numerous dead chickens lying around, as well as live chickens near the fenced area. 

Other evidence that was found at the house includes razor spurs that are put on chickens during fights, scales, event tracking sheets & record book, electronic time clock, ID straps, rolls of sticky twine, scissors, and more. 

When Rowan County Animal Control arrived at the residence they collected 30 live chickens that had been tied up or in cages near the fighting ring. They also found 15 dead chickens that were close to the fighting ring. 

Four men were arrested at the house on Geneva Drive and were charged with Felony Cock Fighting. They have all been placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $1,500 secured bond.
