Greensboro Woman Wanted In Deadly Hit-And-Run In Mebane

MEBANE, N.C. – The Mebane Police Department says a Greensboro woman involved in a deadly hit and run turned herself in Friday night. Wyatt was placed in the Alamance County Jail under a $250,000 bond. Her first court appearance is scheduled for Monday.

Barbara Bigelow Wyatt is charged with Misdemeanor Death by Motor Vehicle among others.

Police said they recently discovered Wyatt’s car believed to be involved in the hit-and-run. Investigators said on Sunday, Christopher Askey, 23, was using a crosswalk at North Third and West Center Street when he was hit. The driver fled the scene.

Askey later died from his injuries.

Wyatt is facing the following charges:

  • Felony Hit and Run
  • Misdemeanor Death by Motor Vehicle
  • Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Financial Responsibility
