Student Charged For Clown Threats On Instagram: Police

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Police say a 14-year-old Western Guilford High School student has been charged as a juvenile for posting threatening messages on an Instagram account known as "GreensboroClowns."

Police say the young man told them the posts were meant as pranks and he had no plans to hurt anyone.

One of the posts read in part: "...we will be going to schools in Greensboro!! Starting with northeast highschool to kernodle middle school to eastern Guilford high to northwest high to grimsley to western Guilford be expecting lock downs we will be close and ready to attack because? WE ARE NOT CLOWING AROUND!!”

Police removed the Instagram posts and charged the teenager with communicating threats. But now, police say copycats are beginning to show up on different social media sites. Police say any threatening posts will be investigated by officials.
