SALISBURY, N.C. -- Salisbury is hundreds of miles from New York City, but the blast in Chelsea hit close to home for one couple.
Jim Stringfield says he and his wife were watching the aftermath of the explosion on the news and his wife wanted him to check on their daughter Sarah.
"I thought I'd humor my wife," he said, believing that odds were his daughter, who lives in Brooklyn, was no where near the bombing.
"I was floored," he said. "She was 15 feet from the bomb site."
Stringfiled says his daughter was at a movie theater with friends moments before the explosion. Doctors had to remove shrapnel from all over her body; however, she was discharged and is doing fine.
"Grateful she is okay," he said.
"I have no ill will towards the person who did this to my daughter," Stringfield said.
He says he forgives but does want justice.
