Man Confesses After Armed Pastor Interrupts Church Break-In, Fire Shots, Sheriff

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C.-- A man is spending the night in the Orange County jail after his attempt to break-in a church was interrupted by an armed pastor.

According to Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the crime happened around 3:00 p.m. Thursday while Pastor Austin Brown was working inside Five Forks Baptist Church in Hillsborough. Pastor Brown said he interrupted the break-in and when the person ran off and got into his getaway car, he fired shots. One of the gunshots flattened a tire on the car.

The suspect was identified as Cory Vondell Bradshaw. A responding deputy saw a man with a tire near a golf course and stopped. Bradshaw ran off but was later arrested.

The pastor identified Bradshaw, who later gave a full confession to breaking into the church, the sheriff says.

Bradshaw, of Mebane, is facing charges of Felony Breaking and Entering and Attempted Larceny.
