Man Sentenced In Wal-Mart Stalking, Kidnapping, Rape Case

SURRY COUNTY, N.C. -- A man was sentenced in connection with a 2012 kidnapping and rape case.

Police say Robert Jeremy Haynes stalked a woman inside the Wal-Mart located on East Hanes Mill Road in Winston-Salem before forcing her into her car and making her drive to Mount Airy. That's where police said Haynes sexually assaulted and robbed the victim before releasing her on November 19, 2012.

On Thursday, Haynes entered a guilty plea to one count each of 2nd Degree Forcible Rape, 2nd Degree Forcible Sex Offense, 1st Degree Kidnapping, and Common Law Robbery. Under a plea agreement, Haynes was sentenced to a prison term of a minimum 21 years and four months and a maximum 27 years and 6 months. He won't be eligible for parole prior to the minimum term. Haynes was already a registered sex offender for a 2010 conviction of Indecent Liberties with a Minor.
