Man With Shotgun Robs Salisbury Walgreens

SALISBURY, N.C. (WCNC) -- Salisbury police are looking for a man who robbed a Walgreens with a shotgun on Sunday.

At 6:40 p.m., police were called to the Walgreens drug store on East Innes Street in reference to an armed robbery with the suspect possibly still inside with hostages.

When police arrived at the store it was locked down and reinforcements were called because of the possibility of a hostage situation. Officers searched and cleared the store and store employees and customers were escorted out safely. Police said the suspect had left the store prior to the officers arriving.

No one was injured in the incident.

Police said the suspect had entered the store by the main entrance with a shot gun in his hand. He immediately went to the pharmacy, jumped over the counter and held the pharmacist and the assistant at gunpoint.

He demanded a undisclosed amount of pills from the pharmacist, according to police.

The suspect is described as a white man, over 6-feet tall, 230-240 pounds, wearing camouflage pants, grey long sleeve shirt and a military style hat.
