Suspects Pose as DOT Workers

WENTWORTH, NC — Rockingham County Sheriff's Deputies are investigating after a woman says two men posing as DOT workers tried to rob her while driving on Candy Creek Road Thursday.

The woman said both men approached her car in the roadway, one with a gun and the other a knife. They attempted to rob her and she was cut while escaping. The cut is not life-threatening.

Both men wore hard hats and traffic vests and left in a black Nissan four-door car.

Deputies met with the victim at a nearby car dealership in Reidsville.
