NC Man Arrested After Shooting At Kernersville Officer: Police

KERNERSVILLE, NC - A Rural Hall man is facing multiple charges after officers said he shot at a Kernersville Police Officer Saturday morning. 

According to police, an officer tried to pull over Broderick Tywone Ruth for a traffic violation on the 700 block of West Mountain Street around 1:00 in the morning. 

Police said Ruth got out of his car and started to shoot at the officer. The officer returned fire and then Ruth started to drive away. 

During the car chase, police said Ruth lost control of his car and crashed on the 4200 block of Old Greensboro Road in Winston-Salem. Police say he started to run away, but surrendered to officers. 

Winston-Salem Police helped Kernersville officers arrest Ruth. 

Ruth is now facing multiple charges including Assault with a Deadly Weapon on a Law Enforcement Officer, Driving While Impaired, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, and more. He is also a registered sex offender. 

Ruth was taken to jail and has a $250,000 secured bond.
