Nurse Accused Of Helping Inmate Escape To Have Sex

A Chester County nurse was charged in connection with a relationship she had with an inmate she helped escape from prison, police said.

CHESTER, S.C. -- A nurse is accused of helping an inmate escape from a detention center to have sex on several occasions.  

The Chester County Sheriff's Office says they received an email staying an incident between an inmate at the Chester County Detention Center and a contract employee had occurred.

Upon investigation they discovered Katherine Heckman, 38, a nurse, helped Sean Lyles, 33, escape the detention center on three separate occasions to have sex. 

Heckman has been charged with first degree sexual misconduct with an inmate and escape/aiding escape from prison.  Lyles has been charged with two counts of escape/escape, attempted escape r possess tools to escape from prison, recaptured.

The incident remains under investigation.
