Police Raid Rhode Island Home, Arrest Officer Shooting Suspect

PROVIDENCE, R.I -- Police in Rhode Island say they've arrested Irving Lucien Fenner, Jr., after raiding a home. He was wanted in connection with Shelby Police officer Tim Brackeen's murder.

Rhode Island State Police received information that Fenner, Jr., was inside an apartment on Oxford Street in Providence, Rhode Island, according to WPRI.

Officers used tear gas and gave warnings before entering, but the raid turned up nothing as no one was inside the home.

Fenner was later taken into a custody in Coventry, RI early Wednesday morning.

Earlier in the evening Tuesday, North Carolina authorities arrested two people in connection with Officer Brackeen's death.

One of the arrestees told our sister station WCNC's Michelle Boudin on Monday that Fenner is from Providence.

We're working to learn more details. Stay with WFMY News 2 for more.
